The Nelle Shean follows the Response to Intervention model of differentiation. We work hard to make sure our students receive curriculum instruction that will best meet their own level of need for Math and Reading. Title I staff participate in instruction in the classrooms. We offer Homework Help supervised by a teacher after school on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays.
In addition to Math and Reading instruction, staff members specialize in additional curricular areas that include Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies. Students are able to move to these rooms with their class for instruction in these areas. Our 5th and 6th grade Specialists include Technology, Music, and Physical Education. 6th grade also has Science Specialist time that allows them to use our Junior High Lab facilities.
Our students are able to participate in a wide variety of activities that include Band, Orchestra, Knowledge Bowl, Drama, Spelling Bee, and some school sponsored athletics. School trips include Giants Ridge and the Laurentian Learning Center. We are thankful to be in a school community that supports these many and varied opportunities for our students!
