The High School Orchestra is made up of students in grades 9-12.  We have violins, violas, cellos and string basses.  We give three main concerts a year and play for many special events in the community.  We also participate in the Minnesota State High School League’s Music Contest.

When does it run?
Orchestra is a year-long course. Students must enroll for the entire year.

Where does it meet and when would I have to be there?
It meets during period 5 at the Virginia High School. Transportation is provided from Eveleth-Gilbert High School each day.
When and where does it meet?
Class each day is in Virginia. Concerts are held in the evenings and alternate at both locations during the year. A bus takes students to contest in the spring and to any other events required.
How do I sign up?
Students who have not been in an orchestra before need to take private lessons with Mrs. Wilcox or another qualified instructor before joining. You may join by meeting with the school counselor or by registering for the course in the previous spring. If you’re new to orchestra, you’ll need to contact Mrs. Wilcox prior to registering.
What else should I know?
The school does have some instruments available for student use on a first-come first-served basis. Instruments can be purchased by families or may be rented from music shops.
